Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today with friends and family.

We are headed up to Reno, to spend a few days with family and also to celebrate my birthday a little early.

I'm excited to spend the time with them, to be surrounded by the people I love and to share this with Roweyn. I get so excited about sharing the holidays with her and she's still a little young to really understand it but I can tell she's understanding it more this year and to see how excited she gets about it just melts my heart!

Absent Minded

I apologize for being so absent on here lately!
I don't think I've ever slacked quite this much with blogging....
but we've been busy enjoying our Summer as much as possible!

A few things we've been up to lately:

This Summer has been flying by, I feel like we've hardly done anything but at the same time we've done a good amount.
I just don't want Summer to end!
I love this hot weather, spending as much time outside as possible,
how happy it makes me feel and going on adventures with my girl.

We still have lots of fun stuff to do, so unfortunately this blog will be put at the bottom of our list.
I'll post when I can and I have lots of catching up to do, so there will be posts dating back to May and it will be slow going but it's better late than never!

Hope you all are enjoying your Summer!

xoxo

Our Trip to Orange County Pt. 3 & 4th of July

Our last few days in Orange County were spent at the beach.
The weather was a little cooler & overcast
but we still made sure to enjoy every minute of it!

Riding a sideways elevator down to the beach!
That was a first for both of us!

The Family being tourists in Laguna Beach.

This girl loving the playground at the beach in Laguna.

Swinging at the beach in Laguna.

We spend 4th of July hanging out at Laguna Beach.
Sadly it was chilly & overcast all day.
So we spent our day in sweaters playing in the sand
and trying to stay warm.
We still enjoyed eating yummy grilled corn among other tasty food
our lovely host & friends made for us.

Showing me sea shells.

A Yarn Bombed Tree!!

Orange County was a blast!
It's definitely one of my favorite areas.
I would love to live there some day.
The weather is my favorite and would be totally

Our Trip to Orange County Pt. 2 | San Diego Zoo

On our fifth day in Orange County we took a trip down to the San Diego Zoo!!
I hadn't been there since I was 10 years old so it was pretty fun to be able to share it with Roweyn like we were both there for the first time.

Visiting the Giraffes!
Not sure what Roweyn was staring at...
We got to feed the Giraffes too which was lots of fun!

Hanging out with the baby Jaguars.

The group of us!
This is a picture of a picture. haha

Roweyn just hanging out on a lion.

This is just a small look into our entire day.
We took a 30 minute tour of the entire zoo.
Went on the sky tram to get a look at the whole zoo from above.
We visited the Elephants, Pandas, Monkeys, Orangutans, Gorillas,
Hippos, Polar Bears, the real Lions, and pretty much every other animal that was there!

Roweyn had a blast and so did I.
I had fun seeing all the animals but my favorite part was watching
Roweyn get excited about every animal she saw or every activity she liked.
I can't wait to take her back again when she is older & hopefully visit the Safari Park too!

Our Trip to Orange County Pt. 1

At the end of June we headed down to Orange County in our car
for a mini vacation and to visit our friends.
Pretty much one of my least favorite things is riding in a car for more than a few hours. But it wasn't that bad, even with a toddler and 11 year old in the car!
We made it in about 9 hours including going through LA so we made really good time.

Roweyn still happy as can be rear facing in her car seat at 2.5 years.
She had her baby under her blanket with her and she was nursing her baby.
This was while we were going through the grapevine.

The beach at San Clemente!
This was the first ocean beach Roweyn had been to,
two years before when she was only 7 months old.
It was fun to return to the same beach to make new memories.

Flying over the waves.

Pondering where she wants to make a sand castle.
And photo bombed by my sister.

Being tourists at The Grove.

Treasure Beach in Laguna.
Such a beautiful resort and beach!

Climbing in giant holes.
I think she saw a boat or a helicopter
so she was way too busy to look at the camera.

Secrets with Nana.

Hangin at the San Clemente State Beach.
She loves her Mama.

The first four days were a blast! But just the start of our trip.
Lots more photos to come.
Including our trip to the San Diego Zoo,
more beach time and 4th of July!

Roweyn's Ramblings Wk. 69

It's the beginning of our summer and we are so happy to be spending it doing so many fun things!

Like swimming at the pool!

Being silly wearing Nana's shower cap.

Sleeping in!

And Roweyn's VERY FIRST Camping trip!!
It was only a day trip since the weather was very cold and we came home smelling like a camp fire but we still had fun!

Squaw Valley Trip

Father's Day Weekend also happens to be my Mom's birthday weekend, so we headed up to Squaw Valley for a weekend celebration.

Our view from our hotel room.

My mom thought she bought me beer but it was actually hard cider. LOVED it!

Roweyn being a sand crab.

This was hilarious. Roweyn put her dog in the front of her robe and carried her around making some very funny poses.

Book. Lounging at a Pool. Hard Cider. Sleeping Toddler.
Doesn't get much better than that.

We had such a lovely weekend. The weather was wonderful.
And my parents stayed an extra night to have time to themselves so it was a win for everyone.

A Mommy & Rowey Trip to Reno

Last week, Roweyn and I took a little 2.5 day trip up to Reno to visit my brother Trevor and his girlfriend Sierra. We haven't taken a trip up with just the two of us in almost 2 years so it was well over due!

We spent our first afternoon with Trevor, taking a (very windy) walk outside of downtown for a late lunch to a little restaurant, I hadn't been to in about 4 years. They just recently moved down the street into a bigger location. I was relieved to see that since we had Roweyn & her stroller which never would have even fit into their old location, which was tiny. We shared a delicious giant sandwich & each had a bowl of soup.

After lunch we headed back to his house and shortly after that, Sierra was getting home from work. We spent the late afternoon just hanging out, Trev started preparations for a delicious dinner which we had later in the evening after I was able to get Roweyn down sleep. Sierra's friend who I had met from our trip to Napa, joined us too. It was fun seeing her again 3 months later! We all stayed up for a while drinking wine and chatting which was a really nice change for me as it's something I never do these days. When I put Roweyn down to sleep, I either go to bed too or relax for a bit by reading or watching a show. It was nice to feel like an adult who has time to do stuff outside of just being a parent.

The following morning we spent at the house, having a nice breakfast, preparing for the day. Then Trev was off to a work meeting & I put Rowe down for an early nap since she decided to wake up at 6 in the morning after going to bed at 10pm! She never gets up that early and after a late night myself, I was not too keen on it!

After Rowe woke up from her nap,  and Trev got back from his meeting, we headed over to have lunch with Sierra on her break. Rowe was being super fussy during lunch but I just figured she was just tired and off her schedule. After lunch we stopped back at the house, grabbed the dogs and headed out for another walk. We went to a little farmers market & there was an ice cream truck so we got some ice cream for Rowe. Then we headed over to this little local coffee shop with an outdoor patio.

Rowe seemed to be in better spirits while we hung out on the patio. She played with the dogs while Trevor and I drank delicious cold brewed iced coffee.

Sitting with her Uncle Trevor while holding Cherokee while he holds Annika.

We walked back home to Trevor's and Roweyn started being really fussy again, I noticed she felt unusually warm & her eyes were looking really glossy. They didn't have thermometer to be able to check Roweyn's temperature but I could tell she had some sort of fever. Trevor was kind enough to hop on his bike, ride to the store and pick up some Tylenol. It took a while for the Tylenol to kick in but eventually she started feeling better.

Unfortunately we missed out on going to the Aces Baseball game that night but I wasn't going to take Roweyn out again when she really wasn't feeling well. So we spent another relaxing night in with a late dinner and a late night of drinking wine.

We woke up the next morning and packed everything up and hung out for a bit with Trevor before making our way back home.

We made it home and were able to relax for a bit and then we were able to head over to Roweyn's Preschool for an end of the year Ice Cream Party.

It was a great little trip even though Rowe didn't feel well for part of it.

Hoping we can do it again soon!

Mother's Day Weekend

On the Friday before Mom's Day, Roweyn's Preschool celebrated Mother's day with all the kids Mamas.

The kids gave all the Mom's a cute little Parsley plant that they planted in a pot they decorated with little fingerprints turned into bugs.

Then we had a Mother's day brunch. All the kids brought in a piece of fruit that they got to cut with special cutter for a fruit salad.
It was fun seeing all the kids participate in making the brunch for us.

On Saturday, Roweyn got me an early Mother's Day present before we headed to Reno for the rest of the weekend.

My brother and his girlfriend made us a special Mother's Day brunch on Sunday for my Mom, myself and my sister in law.
It was great, like all his food always is!

After brunch we went mini golfing. It was Roweyn's first time going and she loved it.
She was actually pretty good too! We went right at nap time but she did great the entire time even though she was tired.

While we were golfing, a Mama duck with her TWELVE ducklings go waddling across the course and into the pond.
I even got to help one climb over the rock into the water.
Roweyn and my niece thought that was so fun to see them and Roweyn wanted to follow them around the rest of the time!

Rowe with a golf club just her size!

After mini golfing we got some frozen yogurt before saying goodbye to our fam and getting ready to head back home.

It was such an easy going day with no big plans. Everyone had fun and it was really nice to be able to spend it with the entire family.

Napa, my First Overnighter without Roweyn Pt. 2

In case you missed Pt. 1 of my Trip to Napa, be sure to check it out here!

Alpha Omega Winery

Our second Winery for our second day was beautiful inside and out! The inside had incredible barn doors, vaulted ceilings and floor to ceiling windows with that photo above as the view. We tasted wines that ranged from $50 to over $100, all were great but of course we didn't buy any.

Haha this photo makes me think Sierra and I are a couple with the way we are sitting.

Sierra and I at one of our Favorites of the trip and the last one...Peju Winery.

This Winery looks like it came straight out of a Fairy Tale. It was such a cute place!

The Tower
Isn't it great?

The driveway had these crazy trees that looked like giant sticks that curved over their driveway, it was so cool looking!

After our last winery we headed out to find some dinner and then get on the road to head home.

The trip was a blast! I am SO glad I made the decision to go. It was just what I needed, a relaxing girls trip with nothing to worry about. One night away was definitely enough for my first trip though. It was refreshing and so nice to spend time with girls my age, all with similar interests and busy schedules as well, who all wanted to have a relaxing but fun time. I can't wait to go on another trip, not too soon though because I missed my girl lots! I'm thinking maybe in the fall. :)

Napa, my First Overnighter without Roweyn Pt. 1

So a couple of weekends ago I took the plunge and went on my very first overnighter without Roweyn! My brother's girlfriend was heading to Napa with a couple of friends for a girls weekend, invited me to go and it just seemed like an opportunity I couldn't pass up. I had about a month to prep myself for it which was really nice because I was definitely nervous about leaving her. I knew I would miss her tons and know she would do totally fine during the day with my parents but I was nervous for night time since she does still nurse and wouldn't be able to do so while I was gone. But it had to happen sooner or later and I think after 2 years with no me time, it was time to give it a go.

We made it to Napa mid Saturday and met my cousin who happens to go to school not too far from Napa and then we were on our way to our first Winery!

V. Sattui Winery

This was a very popular family friendly winery that served food & also had a little store to shop in so we decided to grab some food, a bottle of Chardonnay, find a picnic table and enjoy the nice weather.

My Cousin Paige and me

Paige, my brother's girlfriend Sierra and me

Inside the Cellar at V. Sattui

After we were done with our picnic we did some exploring around the Winery and checked out their amazing cellar!

Sadly after we were done at V. Sattui, Paige had to head back home.

We headed out to our next Winery, Velo Vino aka the Clif Family Winery who happens to be the owners of all the Clif Bars. Such a fun little place and very relaxed with lots of yummy wine! Sadly I didn't get a photo while there.

Whitehall Lane Winery

Here's all the girls (Holli, Jenn, Sierra and me) at our 3rd and last winery for the day. They were super nice and we had fun splitting up our tastings. They had a really great Dessert Wine that Sierra and I loved. It was something we had never tasted before in a wine, it was almost like honey. So good!!

After we were done at Whitehall we realized that all the Winery's were closing up for the day even though it was only 5pm! We found an outside bar that's attached to a restaurant and stopped by for a drink. While we were waiting in line to order a man cut in front of the 4 of us plus 2 other women and wow did he make a mistake doing that! He got his head chewed off by all of us. haha It was quite funny, I don't think he knew what he was getting into when he made that mistake.

We headed back to the hotel after that to get changed for some dinner and then out for the night. We found this cool place downtown called the Oxbow Public Market. It's basically a big warehouse with a bunch of restaurants inside. After we ate we realized we were all tired so instead of heading out we went back to the hotel and settled in for the night....mind you by the time we went to bed it was about 9:30. haha Wine makes us sleepy I guess!

The next morning we headed out to downtown St. Helena for breakfast and a little walking around to check out the cute shops, then it was off to our first Winery of the day!

Flora Springs Winery

We spent probably 2 hours sitting on this patio wine tasting. Our view was so beautiful it looked fake!

Sierra and me at Flora Springs

The girls at Flora Springs

It was another beautiful day and we were just getting started!

We visited two more Wineries after this which you can check out in Pt. 2 Coming soon!
