To Sleep or Not to Sleep?

I used to talk about Roweyn's sleep habits quite a lot, but honestly there is only so much I can say about them. Ha! But now that she is going to be 7 months old tomorrow, it seems like there is a lot more to think about when it comes to her sleeping habits.

Lately Roweyn goes to bed between 10 and 11 at night. I know right?! Far too late! But if she goes to sleep before that she usually wakes up by 9 and then won't fall back to sleep till then. When I finally get her down, she usually sleeps around 4 to 5 hours then fusses till I pick her up and feed her. She then wakes up about every 2 to 3 hours and does the same thing till she is ready to be up for the day.

She naps anywhere from 2 to 4 times a day, anywhere from 15 mins to an hour usually. But the past couple days she WILL NOT nap unless I am holding her. Every time I have put her down in her crib when she falls asleep after breastfeeding or while holding her, she wakes up! I'll pick her back up to make sure she doesn't have a burp, then usually she falls back to sleep in my arms. I then put her back into her crib in hopes that she will stay asleep or fall asleep. I think she has only fallen back to sleep in her crib a couple times but its rare and this is the first week that she has ever done this!

I feel like there are numerous reasons as to why all this is happening. The first being, she is majorly teething. She just got her 2nd lower tooth in and I can tell she is having issues with it. I've been giving her some all natural teething tablets but when that doesn't work I give her some tylenol. I try not to do that too often because I'm really not a fan of pain killers. Second, I think she is overly tired. She's not getting enough sleep during the day therefore she is waking up constantly at night. Which studies say is very common when babies are overly tired. Third, I just moved her into her crib. She is still in my room, but not right next to my bed. Fourth, I am working now and she may be having some separation anxiety. I have been working for over a month now and only two times a week, but she was used to always being around me for the first 5.5 months of her life and now there are times when I am not there.

Even though I'm sure all of this plays a part in why she is having issues sleeping, I don't want them to get any worse. So what advice do you have for me that is helping or has helped you get your little ones down for a nap or to bed for the night? I would love to hear your stories!

New Adventures at 6 Months!

So Roweyn had her 6 month check up on Friday.

She weighs 13lbs 1oz and is almost 26in. She is a tiny little thing but she is growing at a steady rate!

She is now eating solid foods! So far we've tried Rice cereal, Sweet Potatoes, Squash and Pears. I think Sweet Potatoes are her favorite, she always seems to eat more when she eats them. Here she is eating Squash!
She even drinks water out of a small cup! It's way cute!

OH!! She also got her first tooth on July 7th! Its a sharp little sucker! So now her chewing on my fingers is not so much of an option anymore...although sometimes I forget and then I get a nice little reminder when I feel something sharp digging in. We didn't even know it had cut through until she was chewing on my finger and I felt it. We had a great night without any fussing so it was a surprise! It's so cute and tiny and you can barely see it! I can't wait for it to come in the rest of the way!

So for all of you that read our blog, is there anything you would like to hear me talk about, that I don't already? Anything having to do with being a single mom, first time mom, raising Roweyn, etc? Leave a comment and tell me what you would like to know!

And for those of you that follow, but only when I say something on facebook or twitter about a new post...I would love it if you could follow us publicly either through Google Friend, or by subscribing to the posts. I would love to know who is actually reading this, I see that people are but I don't know who! So follow us and leave a comment letting us know! :)

Thanks guys!

Rowe's First Independence Day!

So I know I am almost a week late with this but it's been kind of a crazy week. Rowe's been getting over a cold since last week and I of course caught it and have been sick with a Sinus Infection since 4th of July. We had 3 appointments this week and I worked a couple days. So now that I am finally getting a chance to just chill I can do this!!

How was everyone's 4th?? We started ours off by going to the park in Lake Wildwood and just hanging out with everyone there. Trevor came down on Saturday so I was pretty excited to have my brother to hang out with. We had hot dogs and nachos covered in jalapenos, some good drinks, we played a game of bingo and hung out in the shade.

We came home for the afternoon and just relaxed while our parents and their friends went for a boat ride. And while they were doing that I got some cute photos of Roweyn in her red, white and blue dress, and her Red Watermelon Fuzzibunz cloth diaper.

Look how cute her fluffy bum is!

And of course we had to get a couple Mama and Rowe baby shots!

So after relaxing for the afternoon, we had a wonderful dinner! Then we took our boat out onto the lake to hang and watch the fireworks!

I was a little worried that Roweyn would be scared of the fireworks, but she slept through the whole thing!! I am kinda bummed that she missed them cause I know she would have loved it.  Well there's always next year! haha
