Ahh the weather the past few days has been absolutely phenomenal! LWW had our annual garage sale start this weekend, so we were able to be out and about to enjoy it. Hopefully it will be nice next weekend too for the rest of the garage sale! We didn't get to shop much except for around our street and we didn't find much, but it was still fun to be out and seeing friends. Plus my sister had a little food booth that I helped out with for a bit. Our friends had their annual bbq yesterday too, which just made the day that much better.
Rowe has grown so much in the past few weeks. She's around 12lbs now and 23 1/2 in. long. She loves loves loves taking her baths. She splashes and kicks, it's the cutest thing. She has some little frog toys that she loves to kick and she grabs them with her feet and legs and pulls them up to her chest. I recorded some of it....check it out.
She's starting to babble more. It's so cute. She just goes on and on and on. Tayelor brought home a book from her school library for Roweyn and read it to her a few times. Roweyn loved it. It was really cute to watch the two of the interact. Roweyn really likes Tayelor.
She's trying to roll over but hasn't quite gotten it yet. She lays on her back on her play mat while holding onto her her toys and will roll onto her side while still holding onto her toys and then she can't go any further. If she's in front of the tv, I usually put her so she can't see it, but next thing I know she's on her side with her head tilted back so she can watch it. It cracks me up, can't believe she's already trying to watch it.
Recently I found some other blogs, moms who do reviews and giveaways on cloth diapers and a lot of other products. I've become obsessed! ha Reading all the reviews and entering all of the giveaways. I have yet to win but I'm hopeful! It's also nice because they review mostly eco-friendly products and I always like to read reviews before I buy things. I've only bought one thing so far that one of them reviewed and I really like it!
Rowe sleeps through the night. She has been for awhile now, but now she's sleeping even longer. She used to go to sleep around 11 or later but now she's usually asleep by 10 and she would wake up anywhere between 5 and 8 but now she just wakes up around 8 or a little after. It's so nice to be able to sleep through the night again but it's not the same kind of sleep. I still feel tired, no matter what. But I get to spend my days with Roweyn and it can't get any better than that.
She found her feet too. While changing her one day she was holding onto them. It's super cute.
I think her antibiotics are really helping her. I haven't seen any more pink and her poop has gotten back to its normal color. Lets just hope her kidneys are okay!
Alright time to go back to relaxing.
Wow it has been way too long since my last post. I try to write on here at least once a week but these last few weeks have been so crazy busy! With Easter, Roweyn having blood in her diapers on and off for 3 weeks now, Drs appts trying to figure out what's going on with her, going to play groups, and getting Rowe's photos done...I just haven't found the time. But I'm hoping that this will all start to calm down within the next few days. Just a warning....this could be a long post, but that depends on how much I can get down before Rowe wakes up from her nap.
So lets rewind back to a few weeks ago, to the Friday before Easter. This was the first day we noticed the pink color in Roweyn's diaper. Thinking it was blood, I called her Dr., but he didn't seem too worried about it. Saying if she wasn't acting sick, then not to worry about it too much unless she got a lot worse. There wasn't any pink in her diaper the rest of the weekend. Saturday my brother and his roommate came down for Easter and we all went out for bowling (I'll have to post a photo of Rowe with a bowling ball later) and pizza, then the three of us went out for some drinks. This was the first time I had gone out in exactly a year. It was really nice to get out but it was really hard to keep my mind off of worrying about Roweyn. She did fine staying home with Nana and Papa. We had a really nice calm Easter at home hiding from the stormy weather.
Monday night we saw the pink in her diaper again and we saw it off and on the rest of the week. I did a lot of talking with the lactation consultant trying to figure out if the pink was in her stools because her intestines have been irritated because they're not breaking down my breastmilk as well as they should be. We also both had a bit of a cold so we took it easy most of the week. Saturday we were planning on going to Roseville to do some shopping and get some photos done but I ended up getting pretty sick. So we had a pretty easy going weekend.
This next week was kind of crazy. She was still having the pink color in her diapers on and off all week. So we took Roweyn to the Dr on Monday, which wasn't much help besides getting some tests to take home. We went back to the Dr again on Tuesday where they tested her urine and stools and they came back negative. So we were told to just keep an eye on the pink color, as it was on and off again. Wednesday and Thursday we went to our play groups which are always a blast! Friday we took it easy. Saturday we finally got to go to Roseville, we did a tiny bit of shopping but most of our time there was spent doing pictures and trying to decide on the ones we wanted! They came out so great! But it's sooo tiring to do that all in one day.
Sunday and Monday, we rested again cause we were pretty tired from going to Roseville. Tuesday we went to the Dr again and this time we actually got some answers. After bringing in a urine sample, they tested it and it came back positive for red and white blood cells. They decided to put in a catheter to get some more urine to test. I'm so glad Roweyn won't be able to remember what that was like, let me tell you that it was not a fun experience for either of us. First of all, she was not happy to have to lie on that giant table when she had just fallen asleep, to then be abruptly awakened, and for me to have to hold her arms and try to soothe her while her legs were being pinned down, just made things that much worse. Not to mention the catheter...then of course the tube just happened to have a hole in it and we lost half of the urine we collected. Luckily we had enough, there was no way I was going to make her (or me) go through that again in the same 10 minutes. Hopefully she will never have to do that again!! That urine was also positive for red and white blood cells. So the Dr decided to put her on antibiotics while we wait two days for the lab to do a urine culture to see what kind of infection Roweyn has. We're hoping that its just a bladder infection or something small like that and that the antibiotics will be able to kill it. Otherwise she's going to end up having to have an ultrasound on her kidneys to make sure there's nothing going on with those. Which we're really hoping there isn't!
We went to the lactation consultant today to discuss the issues with her intestines and I think she was a little unsure on what to do now because of Rowe having some sort of infection. So we're sticking to what we're doing right now since the antibiotics can irritate her intestines even more and while we wait to see what the lab results are on her test that we get back tomorrow.
So now that we're all caught up on what's been going on with us...I can actually write another post on the happy things that have been happening! This post took me two days to write...so not sure when I'll get the other post up...but hopefully within the next couple days.
Thank you everyone for the well wishes and support as we try to figure this all out. I'll let you know what happens next when we find out more tomorrow.
Roweyn and I got to go to our first play groups this week! Well one was more of a moms group but she still got to look around and play on the floor with all of the babies. The other one though was all about the babies. They all got to play on the floor with each other and have a good time. Roweyn is fascinated with other babies. It's so cute to just watch her look and talk to all of them. I love it.
Next week the moms group is canceled due to spring break but I'm definitely looking forward to the one on thursday. They're having a speaker there to talk about signing with babies. I'm really excited cause I think teaching babies how to sign before they can speak can really help you understand them and can really help them communicate with you.
Roweyn is worn out from going today! We got home at 2:30 and she has been sleeping pretty much since then!! I'm so jealous!! I've been cleaning, getting ready for company coming over this weekend for Easter. I definitely wish I could be napping right now! In fact, I think I'm going to go rest before she wakes up, which could be any minute!
Hope everyone has a great Easter! And please, try to remember what Easter is really about!
