A Mommy & Rowey Trip to Reno

Last week, Roweyn and I took a little 2.5 day trip up to Reno to visit my brother Trevor and his girlfriend Sierra. We haven't taken a trip up with just the two of us in almost 2 years so it was well over due!

We spent our first afternoon with Trevor, taking a (very windy) walk outside of downtown for a late lunch to a little restaurant, I hadn't been to in about 4 years. They just recently moved down the street into a bigger location. I was relieved to see that since we had Roweyn & her stroller which never would have even fit into their old location, which was tiny. We shared a delicious giant sandwich & each had a bowl of soup.

After lunch we headed back to his house and shortly after that, Sierra was getting home from work. We spent the late afternoon just hanging out, Trev started preparations for a delicious dinner which we had later in the evening after I was able to get Roweyn down sleep. Sierra's friend who I had met from our trip to Napa, joined us too. It was fun seeing her again 3 months later! We all stayed up for a while drinking wine and chatting which was a really nice change for me as it's something I never do these days. When I put Roweyn down to sleep, I either go to bed too or relax for a bit by reading or watching a show. It was nice to feel like an adult who has time to do stuff outside of just being a parent.

The following morning we spent at the house, having a nice breakfast, preparing for the day. Then Trev was off to a work meeting & I put Rowe down for an early nap since she decided to wake up at 6 in the morning after going to bed at 10pm! She never gets up that early and after a late night myself, I was not too keen on it!

After Rowe woke up from her nap,  and Trev got back from his meeting, we headed over to have lunch with Sierra on her break. Rowe was being super fussy during lunch but I just figured she was just tired and off her schedule. After lunch we stopped back at the house, grabbed the dogs and headed out for another walk. We went to a little farmers market & there was an ice cream truck so we got some ice cream for Rowe. Then we headed over to this little local coffee shop with an outdoor patio.

Rowe seemed to be in better spirits while we hung out on the patio. She played with the dogs while Trevor and I drank delicious cold brewed iced coffee.

Sitting with her Uncle Trevor while holding Cherokee while he holds Annika.

We walked back home to Trevor's and Roweyn started being really fussy again, I noticed she felt unusually warm & her eyes were looking really glossy. They didn't have thermometer to be able to check Roweyn's temperature but I could tell she had some sort of fever. Trevor was kind enough to hop on his bike, ride to the store and pick up some Tylenol. It took a while for the Tylenol to kick in but eventually she started feeling better.

Unfortunately we missed out on going to the Aces Baseball game that night but I wasn't going to take Roweyn out again when she really wasn't feeling well. So we spent another relaxing night in with a late dinner and a late night of drinking wine.

We woke up the next morning and packed everything up and hung out for a bit with Trevor before making our way back home.

We made it home and were able to relax for a bit and then we were able to head over to Roweyn's Preschool for an end of the year Ice Cream Party.

It was a great little trip even though Rowe didn't feel well for part of it.

Hoping we can do it again soon!

Our Quick Trip to Reno

After Preschool on Friday, we headed up to Reno with the fam for a little overnighter to see the rest of the fam. We went to my brother's restaurant Pie-Face Pizza Co. and had an awesome late little lunch and then we went over to his house to hang for the rest of the evening.

That evening Roweyn started acting super fussy and next thing I know she's puking down my shirt. Poor girl caught some sort of flu bug! We spent the rest of the time there dealing with her puke sessions & then headed back to the hotel for the night where I woke up on a few different occasions to her being sick. I felt so bad!

In the morning though she was acting much better, was able to hold down water and over all just seemed to feel better. So we met up with my brother & his girlfriend for breakfast where Rowe snacked & did fine keeping everything down! We were very happy about this since we decided we were going to hit up the Nevada Discovery Museum for kids!

It was nearing nap time, but Roweyn had a blast with their big water play area, indoor playground for toddlers, running under the giant tire as well as the other areas they had.

She climbed up on the "horse" and inside the airplane too!

Later we headed over to my other brothers house for dinner with his family. Roweyn had so much fun playing with her cousin! After dinner we headed back home as planned. It was definitely an interesting trip and hopefully next time no one will get sick!

Sadly I woke up early the next morning sick as well! And later I found out my brother & his girlfriend were sick too! Whatever Rowe had it spread fast to us but luckily it was over in about 12 - 24 hours.

Oh You Know, Just a Little of Everything

I feel like I haven't posted anything on here in so long, even though I've been posting the entire month of January. It's just none of it has been that personal, mostly just some photos or updating old posts but i just feel like I don't have time to do anything more than that. I don't know what I want to write about or where to start with all the photos I have taken lately.

My days have been filled with work and yet I'm hardly making any money, we've been sick and exhausted and there's been a lot of going to bed by 9:30 (for me) earlier for Rowe. There's been a lot of canceled plans...day of...that have just thrown me off and while I try to make the most of it, I end up feeling like I've accomplished nothing. I'm trying so hard to move forward with so many things in life and yet I feel like I'm constantly being held back, unable to change.

Hopefully things WILL be changing by mid to end of February, the salon is going to see a little less of me in hopes of me seeing more of my clients (I know that sounds weird but it makes sense, I promise!), and not just that, but it should mean more free time with Roweyn. More play dates, more adventures, more of us being together. I am taking my very first OVERNIGHT trip without Roweyn. A HUGE GIANT BIG DEAL for me! I've never gone more than maybe 9 hours without seeing her and we've never spent a night apart in the 25 months that she's been out of my belly. But the opportunity presented itself and if I don't do it now, it might never happen! I'm nervous as heck and it makes me want to cry just thinking about spending the night without her but I NEED THIS SO BADLY! It just has to happen or I will just keep running myself into the ground. I am in a very slow process of weaning Roweyn, it's been rough with us both getting sick so we've moved forward, taken a few steps back and are moving forward again, also hoping that maybe this trip will help move it along even more!

I'm already thinking about our Summer schedule, a dance class for Roweyn and possibly swim lessons and will try to throw in a few short trips for some new adventures. Preschool sign ups for Fall are drawing near and I've decided to move her up into the next class that is called the Younger Side, which means she'll be going 2 days a week for 3 hours a day with me only there helping out in the class a couple times a month. It's a pretty big step for both of us, her class she's in now, I'm with her the entire time and it's a little less than 2 hours so a pretty big change, she'll also be a little younger than the other kids. I decided to do this because I feel like even now she could be in something 2 days a week. And I'll be able to work during that time on at least one of those days which will work out great.

Anyways I know I just threw out a lot in this post but it's the easiest way to get it out at this time and hopefully in the future I'll be able to spend more time writing!

So now I'll leave you with a few of the quotes I found on Pinterest that I'm really liking this week!

Roweyn's Ramblings Wk. 51

Found her snuggling on the couch under a big blanket. My Hello Kitty Chef!

A special package for Roweyn and me! Inside were our Mustard Yellow Slouch hats that Jess from My Little Mustache custom made for us! And we LOVE them!

My hat! A sick baby girl enjoying a "Pop" and looking like such a big girl with her nails painted.

Making silly faces! Sweetest little girl napping.

Putting this hat on her whenever I get the chance because she looks so flippin cute!

Roweyn's Ramblings Wk. 45

This week is full of lots of photos as we did a lot of fun stuff from crafting to snuggles, play date ornament making, a not so fun trip to the Drs and a new kitchen! Take a look!

A test run of our DIY Photo Coasters using Instagram Photos, Homemade Modge Podge and tile coasters. Having a yummy breakfast!

The final result from the test run turned out great! Passed out after going over to her Best Friends for Birthday Dinner and a little party. Where she also got a bit of a boo boo from another toddler there.

Doing major work in order to get all the coasters done so they could be wrapped up and sent! And exhausted after a very fun day of making ornaments with our best friends!

The Ornaments we made pre paint! They turned out great!
Snuggles with my favorite girl!

At the Drs waiting to see what the next step is for her UTI testing and snacking on Apples during the long wait. What isn't shown here is that after this, she had another bladder bag put on so they could test her urine to make sure the UTI was gone. She FREAKED. She must have remembered it from the week before and how much it her hurt to take it off. It sticks like duct tape on her girl bits. It took me 45 mins by myself in my car trying to calm her down enough to get her to pee. It was a very hard Mama moment for me watching her be so upset and there was nothing I could do for her except try to get her to pee so it could be taken off. We ended up being at the Drs. for 2 hours and we were 30mins late to preschool. I wasn't too stoked about our morning and was exhausted after we got home.

On Saturday my Dad and I pulled out Roweyn's play kitchen to put together and hide until Christmas. With 2 people building it, it still took a little over an hour. They say with only one person it could take up to 3 hours to build it and I was definitely not going to do that! It's super cute though and I am SO SO SO excited for Roweyn to see it Christmas morning!

Being the most precious sleeper. And finally starting to feel like herself again when she started doing her usual shenanigans of climbing all over everything.

Looking oh so cute!!
Can you spot Roweyn in bed? It took me a minute!

It was a super fun but very busy week!! I'm hoping for some down time soon in order to get some prep done for Christmas and Roweyn's Birthday!

Roweyn's Ramblings Wk. 44

Well we're through another week of December and what a week it was! We had some fun times and some not so fun times (dealing with Roweyn's UTI) but it's getting closer to Christmas and Roweyn's Birthday and we are getting quite excited for it!

Roweyn's antibiotics seemed to kick in right away which was great because the day after her Drs appt was her very first Christmas Performance with her preschool on the 8th! So I wore my comfy bunny shirt and she got dressed up in a darling little purple velvet hand me down dress that was in perfect condition. I hadn't bought her any holiday dresses because we didn't have any plans for the Holidays so this worked out perfectly!
The next morning we had preschool and Rowe was all about shooting hoops during outside play. That night, she found a new spot in her toy basket! Had a nice time in the bath! And then somehow after she had gotten her pjs on she fell and landed into her basket where we keep her cloth diapers and extra outfits. I thought it was pretty cute but she wasn't too excited about it!
On Sunday a new Hardware store just opened in our area and was having a grand opening so we headed over there to get some supplies for some Christmas Crafts since everything was 20% off. Roweyn LOVED the hardware store, she found a broom to help sweep, tested out the shelves by laying on them, ran around with a big foam tube and even broke a lightbulb sitting on one of the shelves.

We have an exciting week ahead of us! Roweyn's Best Friend turns Two. We have Christmas crafts and ornaments to work on and it's my brothers birthday. Should be a fun one! Hope you have a great week too!

Roweyn's Ramblings Wk. 43

It's now the month of December, which means lots of Christmas activities!

Friday Dec. 2nd we visited Santa, Saturday we made some special hair clippies for a special little girls birthday and then afterwords we went to pick out our Christmas Tree! I talked all about that weekend in our, "Recently Enjoyed Christmas Fun!" Post.

Always a fun time on the trampoline, especially when the weather is beautiful! Roweyn participating in the tree decorating. She was so cute with it and surprisingly didn't try to take all the decorations off. The final project. And an embarrassed but oh so cute Nutella covered face!

Sweet nappy time. Wearing a stocking on her head and being so silly! Worn out from a very invasive Drs appt where we found out she had another UTI which meant a Bladder Bag Test, then a Catheter, and some antibiotics. :( Feeling a bit better the next night playing with the dog.

Roweyn's Ramblings Wk.3

This has been such a busy week that I'm not even sure if I can remember everything that has happened!

Roweyn has had a bit of a cold, its not a terrible one though, just a runny nose and not feeling completely herself.

She is obsessed with playing with Cyder. They are such best friends and she constantly wants to play tug a war with her! Only bummer about this is that Cyder has accidentally nipped Roweyn's fingers a couple times. Not realizing shes doing it because she is just trying to get the toy from Roweyn.

Roweyn has learned how to climb down our 2 stairs that lead from our entrance into our living room. So great because now we don't have to worry about her falling down them, even though its not a big fall.

She started twirling. So cute, she spins and spins with the most darling smile until she falls over and then she laughs and sits there looking around cause she's dizzy.

She is getting better about keeping hats, headbands and hoods on. So happy about this cause I have so many cute headbands and hats I keep trying to get her to wear!

Roweyn has really been into babbling sentences, especially after she hears the grown ups talking. She likes to join in, its pretty cute.

Her sleeping hasn't been great this past week because of her not feeling good. She won't let me put her down in her crib once she is asleep and same goes for my bed, so I either have to hold her until I want to go to bed, or climb in bed with her and go to sleep. Last night was the first night that she spent half the night in her crib. So hopefully that means she is starting to feel better and will be back to sleeping in her crib in no time.

She decided to wake up at 6:30 this morning! I honestly can't remember the last time she woke up this early! I'm dying today. She went to bed a little after 9 which is later than usual lately, so I have no idea why she was up so early. Let's hope this doesn't happen again!

That's about it for this week! Have a good rest of your week.

Cordless

So my laptop cord has been on the fritz for quite some time now and it finally decided to off itself by completely decapitating the plug from the cord. So for almost a week I have been using my phone and my parents computer to get on the internet. Which sucks cause I can't do any of my regular posts due to the fact that all my photos, videos, etc are on my laptop. :(

And I have to say a lot has happened since last Monday....like.....My birthday on Monday the 29th, Roweyn getting a stomach virus Thursday night, Roweyn visiting Santa for the first time on Sat., me getting the stomach virus Sat. night and puking every 15 mins for 9 hrs straight! (yes seriously 9 hours!!), and Movie Monday.

I ordered a new cord the day it happened from amazon, good news it was only $27, instead of $80 from Apple. Bad news, I don't know if this company is legit and it says it will arrive anytime between Dec. 9th and 24th even though it says its already on its way. :/

Sooooo until then I might not be posting much or it will just look boring like this without any photos. Boo!!

Time Flys When You're Having Fun!

So I told myself I was going to write more often on here, and yet here I am almost a month later posting again. :| oops! Well what can I say? We've been busy!

Between the last post and now not a whole lot has happened. Just been having fun with Rowe and keeping busy.

But last week we were gone all week. We went to Humboldt County to visit family. Rowe and I drove up with my Dad. It was the first time we were really on our own without my Mom for more than a day. We're not around her much during the day anyway but not having her there just in case was interesting. It gave me a chance to see how I can do on my own. And we did great! :)

We saw most of our family and some great friends! We were very excited to see Jen with Asa and her new baby Cain. So adorable by the way! Rowe wanted to play with him so badly!

We went to the Kinetic Sculpture Races while we were there which was a lot of fun. For those of you who don't know what the Kinetic Sculpture Races are...it was created by a man who wanted to show kids that you can still have fun even when you're old. Even though there was all different ages in the race. But basically people build a sculpture on top of bikes and then its a 3 day race starting in Arcata and ending in Fortuna. They have to not only ride on streets but also through sand dunes, and in the water and possibly some other obstacles I don't know about. They have to transform their bikes into basically paddle bikes. It's pretty cool. We got to watch most of them launch into the bay in Eureka. While most of them succeeded there were a few that didn't quite make it. It was a lot of fun anticipating which ones would float and move once they were in the water. Most of the time when we go up there its all about visiting family so this was a nice change.

Rowe learned to pant like a dog when she got excited while we were there. haha It's pretty stinkin cute. She also learned how to stick her toes in her mouth and suck on them! Probably even cuter!

I used disposable diapers while we were there because I would have had to spend time washing our cloth diapers and I wanted to focus on the fam. Not that washing cloth diapers takes a long time it just takes more time than disposables. They are so worth the extra time though. After using sposies for the week I pretty much hated that decision! ha They made Roweyn's bum irritated, they stink, there were blowouts (we've never had one in our cloth dipes), and you have to change them way more often than cloth! We're going to Reno this next weekend and I will definitely be using our Fuzzibunz cloth dipes!

We haven't seen any pink in Rowe's diapers for a few weeks now so yay for that!

I haven't gotten a job yet but I'm not too worried about it. When the time is right one will pop up. And I have something in August that I can do if I don't have a job in a salon. And it's actually pretty cool. So whatever comes up first I'll be pretty excited.

Now that we're all caught up on whats been going on the past few weeks I'll try to have another post up shortly thats mainly all about the new things Rowe can do!
